Day 1
Welcome to Arusha

Your Tanzania adventure begins tonight.

Your journey begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our team meets you on arrival and transfers you to Katambuga House in Arusha. Set in a lush garden on the outskirts of the city, Katambuga House is one of the finest small properties in northern Tanzania — intimate, beautifully furnished and the perfect first night before heading into the Serengeti. Settle in, have dinner, and let the anticipation build.

Tomorrow, the Serengeti begins.

Overnight: Katambuga House, Arusha | Bed & Breakfast

Day 2
Welcome to Northern Serengeti

The moment the plane crosses into Serengeti airspace, the world below changes completely.

An early transfer to Arusha Airport, where you board your light aircraft for the flight north to Lobo Airstrip in the remote northern Serengeti. The moment the plane crosses into Serengeti airspace, the world below changes completely. Ancient rocky kopjes rise from endless plains, the Lobo Valley stretches out below, and the scale of it takes your breath away.

Your guide meets you at Lobo Airstrip and transfers you to Africa Eco Expeditions Camp, your base for the next four nights in the northern Serengeti. The camp sits in one of the most wildlife-dense areas of the entire Serengeti ecosystem, where the Lobo Valley meets the open plains and the wildlife moves with a freedom felt nowhere else. This afternoon your first game drive heads out as the northern Serengeti begins to reveal itself.

Day 3 - Day 5
Northern Serengeti

Ancient, rugged and intimate. This is the Serengeti that very few people see.

Three full days in the ancient, rugged world of the Lobo Valley. This is the Serengeti that very few people see. The northern Serengeti receives only a fraction of the visitors that crowd the southern plains, and the wildlife here moves with a calm that only comes from rarely being disturbed. Rocky kopjes rise from riverine woodland, Fig trees line seasonal streams, and the light at dawn over the valley floor is some of the finest in all of East Africa.

Leopard track along rocky outcrops in the early morning, following the shade from kopje to kopje as the sun rises. Elephant bulls move through stands of Sausage trees. Lion prides use the kopjes as lookouts across the valley below. And in the dry season, the Lobo region becomes a magnet for predators following the northern migration herds as they move towards the Mara River crossings. The energy here feels intimate and timeless. Wildlife watches you as much as you watch them.

Day 6
Lower Zambezi National Park

The horizon stretches endlessly. This is big sky country.

This morning you leave the rocky world of Lobo behind and make your way south to Serengeti Plains Camp in the central Serengeti. The landscape transforms completely as you move from the valley woodland into the vast open grasslands that define the Serengeti in the imagination of the world. The horizon stretches endlessly. This is big sky country.

Serengeti Plains Camp sits in one of the finest photographic positions in the entire Serengeti ecosystem, with access to the Namiri Plains, a remote Cheetah stronghold that was closed to the public for over two decades to protect its predators. Today it remains one of the least-visited and most extraordinary areas in the park. Check in, settle in, and look out across the plains. The Serengeti is already delivering.

Day 7 - Day 11
Serengeti Plains Camp

Five days in one of the great predator strongholds of Africa.

Five days in one of the great predator strongholds of Africa. The Namiri Plains were closed to tourism for over twenty years specifically to protect their extraordinary Cheetah population, and that legacy shows in every drive. Cheetah hunt in full daylight against golden grass, with clean backgrounds and endless sightlines that make every encounter a photographic masterclass. Lions rest on open ground with no other vehicles in sight. Leopard appears along drainage lines with a frequency that surprises even experienced East Africa travelers.

February is perfectly timed for the wildebeest calving season, one of the most dramatic periods in the entire Serengeti ecosystem. The short-grass plains of the central Serengeti teem with vulnerable newborns, and the predator activity that accompanies this event is extraordinary. Lions, Cheetah, Spotted Hyena, Jackal and Serval all concentrate around the calving herds, and the opportunities for extended, multi-species predator encounters are unmatched anywhere else in Africa at this time of year.

Your guide knows this landscape intimately. Each morning and evening drive is shaped by what is happening in the ecosystem around you — fresh tracks, vultures dropping from the sky, the distant sound of a Hyena that signals a kill somewhere on the plains. There is no checklist here. There is only the Serengeti, the wildlife, and the extraordinary privilege of being in one of Africa's last truly wild places.

Day 12
End of Itinerary

Tanzania has a way of staying with people long after the flight home.

The final morning. One last drive before breakfast across the Namiri Plains, because in the Serengeti even the last hour delivers something worth remembering. Then a transfer to Seronera Airstrip for the light aircraft flight north to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Tanzania has a way of staying with people long after the flight home. The Leopard on the kopjes of the Lobo Valley at sunrise. The Cheetah hunting across the Namiri Plains in golden afternoon light. The sound of Lions calling across the central Serengeti in the hour before dawn. You will find yourself back here, one way or another.
