In Botswana, it’s not just the size of the predators that’s impressive, but also the formidable groups they move in. The lions of the renowned Marsh Pride in Chobe’s Savuti region are some of the largest in Africa. Years of challenging hunts through deep water and dense marshland have shaped them into exceptionally powerful hunters, even capable of taking down elephants.
Water Safaris in the Delta
Traditionally, the Okavango Delta was navigated using mekoro, canoes carved from hollowed-out sausage tree trunks. Today, nearly all lodges use lighter, faster, and more eco-friendly fiberglass canoes. A ride in a mokoro offers one of the most tranquil experiences imaginable: as you glide quietly along, your guide will point out stunning lilies, tiny painted reed frogs, and majestic goliath herons.

There is no bad time to go on safari in Botswana. Its climatic pattern is typical of Southern Africa. Humidity won’t trouble you in Botswana, but temperatures vary from day to night. Winter is a dry period that starts off cool and gets quite hot towards the end of the season. June to August are colder months. Summer is wet and hot, with rainfall in January and February.

Thanks a ton Jason Fernandez for introducing us to the beautiful world of wild!! Our Kanha and bandhavgarh trips were fantastic each and every time! This experience is a lot more special to me because, my 4 year old saw her first tiger in the jungle and not in the zoo!! All thanks to you, the mowgli world gleamed in her eyes!! Each of us, big and small, remains mesmerized with those safaris..and summer safaris are a ritual we want to follow each year! You have totally rubbed your addiction on us, and we won't complain 🙂
Jason will make sure you have the best time on your safari holiday. He plans ahead, thinks through every detail and makes sure you get the most personalized attention. The camps are luxurious and cosy, the views are gorgeous and the food is delectable. And then there is the wildlife! It's a holiday made in heaven.
Just back from Enkewa Camp, a gloriously memorable experience! Asante Jason, it’s everything you said it would be and so much more. A tucked away camp inside Masai Mara, no crowds, personal attention, delicious food (thank you Charles! ) super comfortable tented accommodation which fused with the stunning terrain rather than stood out. The quaint bucket hot showers, much needed after every drive, sipping ( ok guzzling) beer sitting under a cool tree in the afternoon with no sound other than the many birds one saw at the camp and beyond.
And the animals! I cannot praise our guide/spotter Johnson who drove us cheerfully and expertly right up to the animals one can spend a lifetime and only watch on television. We saw two prides of lions, five cheetahs ( make a kill too ), a leopard with her two cubs, two rhinos and innumerable elephants, gazelles, zebras and giraffe,hippos and crocs. All up close and personal!
This is our second experience with Wilderness Uncut and hopefully not the last..they do it right!

Going on a photo safari to a foreign land can be extremely nerve wracking. Safety, logistics, stay, food, sightings and photo opportunities are top of mind. I had never met Jason Fernandes before the visit to the Mara. The trip was organized through a friend of mine. Jason's attention to detail is faultless. He is an extremely rare combination of someone who knows the Mara very well, is intimate with animal behaviour, and is an excellent photographer who is always ready to help. He has first-hand knowledge of the Mara geography, many of the camps and guides. The bonus is he is a foodie who knows quality. I went on a photo safari to the Mara, and came back not only with delightful photos and memories, but with a mentor and guide in Jason. Thank you and looking forward to many more, Jason!
Jason and Wilderness Uncut are the ultimate professionals. We just had the most spectacular time in the Masai Mara, Kenya in early March 2020 with Jason’s superb guidance. Any request was handled nearly instantaneously. Wildlife encounters were simply surreal! It was the trip of a lifetime but hopefully we can go again and again. I just came back from a 2 weeks custom safari in India. Jason did an excellent job. Everything was perfectly organized. The hotel in delhi was fantastic. The transfers were perfect. The safari itself exceeded my expectations. The level of service was exceptional and I had some of the best naturalists in the industry. I know what a great safari is, and this one blew me away.
