Magical Kenya - Summer Edition

Journey into the untamed heart of Kenya, to witness the Great Migration at Masai Mara, and experience the unspoilt wilderness of the Mara Naboisho Conservancy in luxury.

Masai Mara is known for the highest concentration of wild animals in the world

500

species of birds

900

Species of Mammals

Home to Africa’s Big 5 – lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos – the Masai Mara closets a motley of wildlife like cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and hippos. Wedged within the Great Rift Valley, the terrain is generally flat with occasional hills and kopjes (rocky outcrops).

“Mara”, which literally translates to “spotted”, perfectly captures the vast rolling savanna dotted with sporadic acacia trees that punctuate the panorama. Riverine forests hemming the Mara river offer rich foraging opportunities for the diverse wildlife inhabiting the region.

The Great Migration

Over 1.5 million wildebeests, along with mega-herds of zebras and antelopes traipse in a loop from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Masai Mara in what is accredited “One of the 7 wonders of the natural world”. This journey to mineral-rich pastures is dangerous. The Mara river, notorious for epic populations of the Nile crocodile, makes for an especially tricky stretch during the Great Migration.

Beyond The Migration

Flanking the northeastern frontier of the Masai Mara National Reserve, is the Mara Naboisho Conservancy which spans 20,000 hectares and stands as a corridor for animals soldiering eastward to the Loita Plains. The conservancy shelters the black rhino, wild dogs, caracals, servals, and honey badgers.

Lions of The Mara

The Masai Mara is home to the lions of BBC’s Big Cat Diary. With an estimated count of 850-900 lions, it has one of the highest densities of lions in the world. They live in prides, typically comprising up to three males, a dozen related females, and their young.

A photo odyssey with Sara Jenner

For as long as Sara could remember she has had a passion for travel and searching for the wildest and most remote places on earth. Back in the UK when she was only 10, she remembers trading in her favourite pink bicycle for the money to start her travel fund. Every birthday and Christmas she added a little more in the kitty and finally, at 18 she realised her dream of diving at the Great Barrier Reef!

Ever since Sara has been travelling the globe in search of wild and remote places and has spent many months volunteering on wildlife conservation projects in a bid to help endangered species. Sara’s love of wildlife and the great outdoors has taken her to all seven continents. Over the past decade she has travelled extensively in the polar regions working as an Expedition Leader on small vessels in the High Arctic, Antarctica, and Sub Antarctic Islands.

Sara’s love for the wild extends beyond icy landscapes. As a photographic guide in the heart of Botswana, the enchanting realms of East Africa, and the mystical landscapes of India, she truly leads a life of two wondrous halves. With each click of her camera, Sara weaves captivating tales of nature and its untamed inhabitants, crafting exquisite snapshots of life’s most precious moments.

Step into Sara’s world and let her lens transport you to the untamed, where the beauty of wildlife dances in every frame.
