Operational from April to December, Drenmo Lodge is situated in Drass, the second coldest inhabited place on Earth. The Drenmo, a Ladakhi sobriquet for Bear, is occasionally sighted in the vicinity of the lodge, making Drenmo Lodge the best location in India for sighting the Himalayan Brown Bear.
In addition to the Himalayan Brown Bear, Red Fox, Wolves, and Ibex, the area around Drenmo Lodge is also home to a variety of resident and migratory birds, including finches, tits, and warblers.
